UNIC (UNIversal satellite home Connection) is a Specific Targeted Research Project (STREP) funded by the European Community under the Information Society Technology Framework Programme 6 for Research and Development.

UNIC aims to study and test attractive means to offer interactive multimedia services over low cost 2 ways satellite terminals, down to the TV set of the users. Beyond its wide geographical coverage capacity, the satellite solution has the potential to supply several simultaneous channels to the home, (including HD bouquets), matching the whole family composite needs.
Bringing it all to the TV set cuts another major factor of digital divide (# 100 % TV equipped households, compared to #50-60% PC equipped).

The project is led by Thales Alenia Space France. The other project partners are: Eutelsat SA, MBI, Centro Ricerche RAI, Università di Pisa, Kreatel AB, Wind Telecomunicazione, CNES, University College London
